Hunter Johnson, born and raised in the picturesque ski town of Taos, New Mexico, developed a passion for various sports during his upbringing, including tennis, baseball, hockey, soccer, and skiing.
After honing his skills in high school, Hunter received scholarships to play tennis at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette before transferring to SMU in Dallas, TX. Together with his twin brother Yates, they became the most successful doubles team in SMU history, achieving a remarkable career-high ranking of 15 in the country. Notably, in 2016, he played a pivotal role in SMU's first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 23 years.
At the end of 2021, despite reaching his highest ATP tennis ranking, Hunter chose to make the transition and compete in Professional Pickleball. Since embracing pickleball, Hunter has climbed the ranks and currently sits in the top 10 best pickleball players in the world in singles. Competing along side his brother Yates, his career continues to soar. Hunter eagerly looks forward to an exciting 2023 season.
